There are no words for what me and the rest of the twin flames community is experiencing. If I were in union with my twin flame, I would be utterly embarrassed, disgusted, and appalled by the actions and words of "Katie", former TFAS student and Alice Hines.
This is the second time that I've heard of lies being spread by journalists in the spiritual community. The first time, I was an avid follower of Jordan Younger, who is a spiritualist, blogger and podcaster. . She's very open and honest about her spiritual journey and her health as she is battling chronic Lyme disease. She was interviewed, herself by the NY times, which like Vanity Fair, twisted her story completely. This resulted in her, her husband, and many of her fans (including myself), upset and outraged at the lack of care and interest that was in the hands of these cruel and dangerous journalists.
Yesterday Jeff and Shaleia informed us all about this cruel article written about them. Now, I remember when they posted about Vanity Fair interviewing them over the summer, but I honestly did not have a good feeling about the whole thing--and my gut feeling is almost always right. Fast forward until now, I tried not to read too much into my negative feeling about it, but I figured that everything was going well. However, this situation reminded me so much of what happened to Jordan Younger that I had to really think about why this keeps happening to the spiritual community.
When I was first going through my spiritual awakening in 2017, I came across Gigi Young's YouTube channel. She was one of the first spiritual Youtuber's, from my experience, made me aware of some of the negativity in the spiritual community. She said that there will always be the shadow side to spirituality, where people will try to tear down spiritual community and that we have to learn how to protect ourselves.
After watching that video, I was stunned. I couldn't believe that there would be backlash in a community that's supposed to be built on love and connection to something bigger than yourself. It almost didn't seem real.
So when I first saw Jordan Younger's response to the NY Times article and then Jeff and Shaleia's, I compared how similar their experiences are. How invalidated, disrespected, and violated their work has been only because these journalists have their own agendas. And it's funny that, as a college student, I almost was a journalism major, who could work with ill-minded people like Alice Hines and Jordan's interviewer.
What I can see so far is that the spiritual community will always be tested again and again by these people. It is our responsibility to lovingly call them out and to keep self-improving. We need to have stronger boundaries with people who have an agenda, or even cut them off if the situation truly becomes toxic to our well-being.
